My girlfriend and I went to the Shanty last night. We were there for three hours and had 9 beers between the two of us. The waitress was friendly but she was taking shots with one of her other tables throughout the night. When we were ready to pay our tab, for the nine beers we had ordered, she brings us a tab for 23 beers. YES 23 beers and then proceeds to argue with us and say that we did have that many.
Now let me go on a side note here. Let's just pretend for a moment that we did have 23 16oz draught beers in three hours. I'll say that I had 12 and my girlfriend had 11. I am a 164 lb male and she is a 125 lb female. My blood alcohol content (BAC) would have been 0.247% and my girlfriend would have had a BAC of 0.349%. Here are some of the effects that you would experience with a BAC of .247%: Dazed and disoriented, need help walking, loss of feeling, blackouts are likely, have little comprehension of where you are, likely hood of asphyxiation by vomit. And some effect that my girlfriend would experience: Passing out suddenly, coma is possible, possible death due to respiratory arrest.
Well I'm sorry but we experienced none of these effects. Though back to the story, the owner then gets involved, he come to our table drinking a beer and says that the waitress is right because she is sober... "No she is not" she has been drinking shots all night with the table behind us. At this point I am fed up, I slap the money down on the table, pay for all 23 beers and leave a two dollar tip (that was generous considering) and we leave. The waitress then follows us outside and takes down my license plate number! WHAT? I PAID FOR THE TAB!
I will NEVER go to the shanty again and I urge everyone who reads this not to go as well.
